Bocce Court Construction News
The PBLA is excited to update you on the bocce court construction project at St. Philip Neri.
The plan includes four courts in an L-shape design with a paved bocce plaza between. The courts are 80
feet long, 11 feet wide, with a rolling surface of artificial turf. They are currently designed as uncovered. In
the meantime, sunshade sails are planned.
Our final design has been submitted to the City of Portland to begin the approval process. Thank you to
architect, Frank Rudloff (Rolling Thunder) for his incredible work on this. Our hard-working Construction
Committee continues to meet as we plan ground-breaking as soon as permits are secured.
The League now turns more attention to the fundraising efforts. As reported last April, the PBLA Foundation currently has $48,000 in funds with an additional $21,000 pledged. We are still sourcing bids for materials and labor, but we are estimating an additional $150,000 needs to be raised. Yes, that’s a lot of money! We have a dedicated team working with corporate and individual donors for large gifts. But we got where we are today through grassroots efforts and donations from league members! We are planning some fun activities in the coming months to raise funds and get you pumped up for the project. As a 501(c)3, donations to the PBLA Foundation are tax-deductible.
